You will be aware from the news reports that there is a serious national shortage of blood bottles, due to production issues. NHS England has instructed doctors’ surgeries to postpone all routine blood tests.
Our reception team may contact you to cancel a blood test that you have booked because of this. Please be aware that until we receive further instruction from NHS England, we cannot give you a future date to rebook this test.
For information, blood tests that we can continue to take are listed below:
Monitoring blood – warfarin/INR/NOAC, lithium, methotrexate, PSA
URGENT bloods as defined by clinician – these are to prevent admission, or treat infection, or if cancer is suspected.
If you have a long-term condition nurse review booked and we contact you to cancel your blood test, the nurse review will still go ahead. The nurse will make ongoing plans for you.
